a busy week

Last week was a very busy one for Markets - as well as our usual weekly markets, we had 2 extra events. The first was on Easter Monday at Gressenhall Museum - we were in a lovely new marquee in the courtyard, with much more space and light (not that you can tell that from the photo!). The weather did not join in the celebrations though - it rained all day, and everyone was thoroughly damp and cold by the end of the day - and that was just us who'd been dry inside, the poor visitors were decidedly bedraggled!
Thursday was a much better day weather-wise, when we had a stall at the Spring Fling at the Royal Norfolk Showground - a fantastic day for children
with a  food and farming theme, loads of tractors to sit in, cows, pigs, chicks and rabbits etc to cuddle - and snakes for variety. Apologies for a dark photo of our  stall , the doors at the back made it quite light, but didn't help with a photograph. The second shot is of our craft table, where the children could make cupcake themed cards - we had a steady stream of young crafters, and just about managed to keep up with the supply of card blanks and matting shapes.

Easter at gressenhall

Some shots of our stall at Gressenhall Rural Life Museum on Easter Monday - it was a beautiful day weather-wise, so I was able to take photos inside the courtyard marquee for once. As you can see from the lack of crowds in the pictures, the only snag was that it was so beautiful we didn't get too many people venturing inside and waving money at us! Admittedly, I did take these at lunchtime - the picnic tables were full, and there was a steady queue for the burgers and hot dogs across the courtyard, and we did not even attempt to go to the cafe!
I did get the chance to walk around the farm later on and found two of Museums's  Suffolk punches busy harrowing one of the fields - the cloud of dust shows how dry it has been here in East Anglia

Wayland show

The Wayland Show at Watton is on Sunday from 10-5  - we shall be there in the Food Hall with tables laden with delicicous cakes, savouries  and jams (and there will be some crafts sneaking in as well !). This is a lovely traditional show, one of the oldest one-day shows in the country, and is well-worth a visit even without us being there...............

New market at Cromer?

There is an information meeting at Cromer Committee Centre on 23rd July, from 1000-1500 to give details of what will be involved in producing for the proposed new Country Market at Cromer. The market hopes to open in October, on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, and producers are needed.
Country Markets sell home-made / home-grown / handcrafted items - so cooks, gardeners and craft people are all needed - if you just want to help without producing , then you will be very welcome also.
Drop in on the 23rd, or contact Nicky at
UPDATE - Cromer market will open for business at 10am Friday 1st October until 12noon - put it in your diary now - refreshments will be available too!
